Keith Felch has been teaching private woodwind lessons for over 25 years, and has taught over 40,000 private lessons on saxophones, clarinets, and flutes to students age 5 to 80+. This level of experience has helped bring an intuition to his teaching style that helps to get right to the heart of what the student needs for that lesson, no matter what their level. He has studios in Laguna Hills, California, and on campus at Brethren Christian Junior and Senior High Schools in Huntington Beach, California.
Keith has written a very exciting new jazz instruction text/CD, Chord/Scale Mastery, which takes a unique approach to mastering the 10 most common jazz chords and their scales for improvisation. He is available to do clinics and master classes at the college and high school levels.
Some of the awards his students have achieved are:
California Band Directors Association All-State Honor Orchestra, All State Honor Wind Ensemble, and All State Honor Jazz Band.
Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association Honor Jazz Band and Jazz All Stars, solo chairs.
2003 Monterey Jazz Competition, Best Soloists of the Festival for Alto and Baritone Saxophones. In addition, Brethren Senior High School Jazz Band was one of only three High School Jazz Bands invited back to perform at the Monterey Jazz Festival in September of 2004.
